How to improve in any area of hospitality

To anyone new to hospitality - be the hospitality presence you would like to see and see the hospitality presence you would like to be.


The hospitality industry is fast-growing, and it takes us, all of us in hospitality, to make that happen and support growth.

•Learn to understand and respect your client and your clients' needs.
•Learn to understand and respect your clients' products and respect your clients' philosophies, food philosophies and core values.
•Work hard, think smart and present yourself well at all times.
•Respect your team and go the extra mile to keep the team going.
•Every Department in Hospitality is different and offers its own challenges.
•Persevere when the going gets tough because it will and when it does, brace yourself and take it with grace and dignity.

 

For kitchen hospitality:
•Always have passion, patience and perseverance.
•In kitchens, tempers can flare up much like flames in a pan and when that happens, don’t worry, it will blow over - just stick to the job in hand.
•Be passionate be patient be productive in your work. Persevere, work hard, and you will achieve your goals.
•Working together in harmony will create happy food.

 

For front of house hospitality:
•If you are in front of house hospitality, remember that you are the first impression and inside that welcomes guests. You are the face of your clients' product. Be the welcoming presence that entices business growth. Be the hospitality presence that you would like to see.
•Present yourself to the best of your ability - make sure your uniform is gleaming and fits well. Look around your front of house area to see what needs to be done to keep them in perfect shape.

 

For Switchboard/Telephone Hospitality:
•For those of you that answer the phone in Hospitality - you are your clients' voice, so be the welcoming voice that you need to be to get new business in.
•Be the voice you need to be to promote your clients' brand. Be the voice that you would like to hear to welcome guests!
