I think starting with a good reservation software system is important. One that is modern and congruent with peoples desire to respond, or in this case lack of desire to cancel their reservation.

Firstly, I have to say I dislike TripAdvisor with a passion, and have done for many years. A little controversial I know, but that's just the way it is. I do, however, agree that restaurants need to engage with it or suffer the consequences.

My advice to my younger self would be to say yes more and get all the experience possible. I was afraid to go beyond my comfort zone and that meant I didn't utilise all possible opportunities.
