For me, people mostly choose the hospitality industry, when they can't find something else or haven't decided what they would like to do with their lives.

Unfortunately, recruitment has a bad name. At careers fairs, you are likely to see a small stand with someone handing out a flyer promising the worlds biggest commission in 6 weeks. I can certainly speak only from the point of an observer, rather than a person who has experienced a "writer's block". I personally think that there isn't such a thing as writers block.
